The at home secret to yoga variety

November 20th, 2009

To save gas time and money, not to mention the spiritual and physical benefits,  I began starting my morning googling terms like ‘free online yoga videos’ here ae a few of my findings so far. I liked his use of breath of fire which is frequently used in Kundalini Yoga. I first got started in Los Angeles taking classes from Gurmukh at Golden Bridge Yoga. Thanks for the recommendation Buna, it has been life changing. She is very spiritual and also has a great collection of weekly video messages and archives.

The Compost Cheese Question

July 27th, 2009

Compostable?Cheese is one of my favorite foods in the world a close second to in season sesame tofu. My current favorite cheese, which went up in price recently, much to my dismay is the Italian Truffle Cheese available at Trader Joe’s. I know egg shells are good, but can I put cheese in my compost?

Soil preparation for Potted Blueberries

July 16th, 2009

I have always loved blueberries since we picked them in the wild in Canada when I was young and made delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast. There was nothing like it. I got my first blueberry bush and am looking into soil requirements so it is sure to bear fruit. With three fruitless fruit trees in the ground outside I am now studying my soil and figuring out what I might be missing. There is nothing worse than overlooking details and killing a plant that you love or preventing it from flowering / growing.

“Stupidity” Movie Reflections

July 7th, 2009

The following were my thoughts while watching “Stupidity”, directed by Albert Nerenberg in 2003. The documentary called for a need for future study so I wrote down some of the psycho educational points that the film addresses. This movie addresses a very complex question about human nature. How can we define Stupidity?
Silliness, forgetfulness, depression, lack of experience, stress, despondency, jealousy, anger, antics and philosophical abnormalities can all create the perfect storm for perceived stupidity. Criminals and untreated people with mental disorders, the elderly can put themselves and others in danger which in my opinion is one of the main factors of stupidity. The scientific concept of the word idiot was first developed in France with the creation of an IQ test. But the word stupidity is a noun of Latin origin.

A Deer nibbled on my Lemon tree

July 7th, 2009

I planted a Meyer lemon, Palestinian lime tree, and an orange tree in my back yard this week. The fist night they were in the ground some mystery animal nibbled ½ of the leaves off or my Meyer lemon tree. I suspect a deer in El Cerrito. I spotted one months ago while driving my husband to work at 6:00 am and I bet he is still in the neighborhood.

What is happening in Mexico?

February 17th, 2009

265px-mexico_states_map_small_warNot being covered too extensively in the U.S. News, Mexico is in increasingly dangerous shape due to drug related violence and police corruption. Smuggling tunnels have been dug underground in attempt to move the drugs to the U.S.
The Mexican people are also struggling with increasing addiction in their own communities and are being killed in the cross fire of the war between Mexican drug cartels.

Murloc Envy

January 11th, 2009

Wrath of the Lich King is everything I hoped it would be. The highlight so far was definitely when King Mrgl-Mrgl taught me the Winterfin Murloc tongue. This quest is awesome you get to go underwater, are given a special breathing potion and capture some soul juice or something in a conch shell for the king, which reminded me of the Sea witch in the Little Mermaid. Anyhow it’s like Blizzard read my mind and knew I always wanted to be able to speak Murloc. They already do have me killing their Murloc enemies across the lake. It could be the shortage of Clam Meat regardless I think this will be great for networking.
Here is a nice Murloc RPG in case you also have been experiencing Murloc envy.
